We group Chums in our classes according to potential.
We don’t believe in a one size fits all approach.
We differentiate.
Each child gets a chance to unlock his or her potential.
Our extra classes is suitable for those who struggle as well as brightsparks.
We offer classes for:
Enrichment classes
These classes are presented for the performers: the brightsparks who already performs VERY well and would appreciate extra stimulation (typically those guys who get 80%-90%). These classes are perfect for those who already love Mathematics and wants a bit of extra exposure. We also do preparation for Maths Olympiads and exams.
In enrichment classes the pupils stimulate each other and they learn a lot from one another’s way of thinking and doing. It is fast paced and pupils can often progress independently. The love to compete and inspire each other to greater heights. These classes are offered for 3 age groups:
Preschool: Grades 000; 00 and R
Foundation phase: Grades 1; 2 and 3
Intermediate phase: Grades 4; 5; 6 and 7
Underperformers
These classes are developed for those who can do better – the average guys for whom a little bit of extra effort can make a big difference. Many 50% or 60%ers are just lazy or became demotivated somewhere along the line. Everyone who takes extra classes already understands when they get in the classroom – the poor guys who don’t have that privilege fall behind: more and more, not because they don’t have the potential but because their potential aren’t being utilised effectively.
Many sports heroes also fall behind. “I’m practicing for hockey-; netball- or rugby finals and that’s serious business. I don’t have time for my homework and the teacher in class doesn’t explain in a way I can understand and soon I found myself lost”. On hopeless plains, and it gets worse by the day.
We love to help these guys.

Guys who struggle
For those who think Maths are horrible.
The guys who struggle progress much better in the absence of brightsparks. They aren’t intimidated by others’ speed and supreme wisdom, which leads to them developing the confidence to ASK and to DARE. Therefore, they progress well at their own pace.

How does our classes work?
A trained tutor offers classes at the school or another suitable venue. We use everything that can possibly be utilised to make Maths fun and digestible for the pupil. We help the pupil reduce to the essence, we use a variety of aids for them to see, feel, touch, comprehend, enjoy and understand. We drill study material through repetition in creative and playful ways.
What takes place verbally in the classes, is worth way more than what you can see on paper. On top of creative repetition which mainly takes place in classes, we also teach them to remember certain concepts by through association.
We help them understand, summarise, learn and apply. From Grade 4 we teach them test paper techniques. We emphasise learning and using correct mathematical terminology – a child needs to understand what is mathematically said to him and in exams, understand what is asked of him.
In our opinion, a child needs to understand before they can repeat. They don’t simply work through stacks of exercises, but rather reduce to the essence and after they understand, it is practiced. We don’t use any computer program.
We play Maths and nurture love and appreciation for the order and patterns of the subject.
