Parkhurst
Grade 4 – Grade 9
I started my career by studying Dietetics in Bloemfontein. I then moved to Johannesburg, where I worked as a software programmer, mainly in the casino industry. In addition to programming, I was also involved in recruitment and worked as a freelance graphic designer.
For 21 years, I fulfilled my role as a full-time mother to my daughter. During this time I kept myself occupied and furthered my creative skills, including art, sewing including pattern design and cutting, and baking and cooking.
After my divorce, I decided to return to my original dream and studied teaching with AROS. I specialised in Maths, Sciences, Languages, and Bible. From a young age, from the age of four, I wanted to be a teacher, a preacher, or a nun. Back then, it was not possible for women to be preachers, and my mother discouraged me from becoming a teacher. Hence, I chose Dietetics then. But life took its own course, and finally, I found my true calling.
I have a strong passion for children and the elderly. My life’s philosophy is that every child, with the right guidance, can do Maths – we just need to learn how to recognize the patterns. It is an honour for me to be part of the Chums-group: what can be better than doing sums all day, and combining it with children?
